Free and open source point cloud software

Unleash the power of 3D point clouds

Digital twins are evolving rapidly and 3D reality capture (terrestrial laser scanners, mobile scanners, drones) has become an integral part of construction projects because it allows reducing rework costs through more precise knowledge of the buildings and industrial facilities.
It is a fantastic tool for anticipating site hazards in revamping and remodeling operations.
Moreover, 3D scanning is an innovative solution for investigations (accidents, crime scenes) and archaeology.

To meet the challenges of the future and provide an alternative to the major actors, we offer OpenScanTools, a powerful free and open source point cloud software.

Openscantools is ready to use, intuitive and makes it easy to exploit massive 3D point clouds.
Whether you work in the AEC industry, energy, oil & gas, water treatment, investigations or academia, OpenScanTools will become part of your daily routine.

OpenScanTools’ ambition is to evolve through a community of technology enthusiasts.
It is licensed under GNU GPL V3.0.

Operating system: Windows 10 & 11

Hardware requirements:

  • Multi-core processor,
  • Dedicated 3D GPU (integrated GPUs may not work), with 2Gb RAM or more, >2015,
  • 16Gb RAM or more*,
  • SSD storage.

*32 Gb is ideal. More RAM is needed in case you want to import / export large merged or unified scans.

The software has been signed (Certum signing) and is therefore perfectly safe, but you may get a Windows Defender screen. It just takes a little time for Microsoft’s reputation to grow.
